SDP Timeline

  • Sign up for the two-part virtual series (Part A and Part B) on the SCDD SDP orientation website.

  • You must attend both Part A (basics) and Part B (budgeting) to qualify for enrollment.

  • After attending, you will receive two certificates of completion (typically within 2 weeks)

  • Send copies of both certificates to your Regional Center Service Coordinator to officially “start the clock” on you transition.

Phase 1: Mandatory Orientation

  • Develop a plan that focuses on your goals and the life you want to lead. You may choose to hire an Independent Facilitator (IF) to help with this. Provide your IF with a copy of both certificates to confirm Orientation was completed.

  • Work with your Service Coordinator and Independent Facilitator (if you choose to hire one) to determine your budget based on your Regional Center Expenditures over the last 12 months, including and “unmet needs” identified in your PCP

  • Choose an FMS Provider (The only required Vendor in SDP) to handle paying your staff and managing taxes.

Phase 2: Planning and Budgeting

  • Create a detailed plan showing exactly how your individual budget will be spent on the services and supports you’ve chosen.

  • Your Individual Program Plan (IPP) team meets to finalize the spending plan and ensure all services align with your goals.

You may invite anyone to attend your IPP meeting to ensure your voice is heard and your services align with your goals.

  • Once the budget and spending plan are signed, the Regional Center authorizes the funds in their system.

The FMS agency will also support in onboarding services and providers to your portal for easy management during the SDP budget year.

  • You officially transitioned into SDP and begin managing you own services through your selected FMS.

Phase 3: Finalizing Enrollment
